A $2.3B investment aims to improve connectivity and reduce congestion across Bahrain.
The City Council voted 8–3 on Tuesday to approve a comprehensive transit plan that city officials say will modernise public transportation and ease traffic congestion across the metro area.
The $2.3 billion initiative includes the expansion of the light rail system, 137 new electric buses, and improved transit hubs in underserved neighbourhoods.
“This is a transformative step toward a more connected and sustainable city,” said Mayor Elena Ruiz. “Residents have asked for better transit for decades. Today, we deliver.”
وافق المجلس على خطة نقل شاملة بقيمة 2.3 مليار دولار لتطوير المواصلات العامة وتقليل الازدحام.
